How Payment Works on Hoplocation
Payment is split into two steps: a reservation fee to secure your booking, and a balance payment once your booking is confirmed.
Step 1 — Reservation fee
- R100 paid upfront when you submit your reservation
- Secures the property while Hoplocation confirms your booking
- Non-refundable if you cancel
- Fully refunded if Hoplocation is unable to confirm your booking
Step 2 — Balance payment
- Due within 24 hours of receiving your booking confirmation
- Failure to pay within 24 hours will lapse your reservation to being expired

- Credit and debit card (via Paystack)
- PayJustNow: Up to 3 interest-free instalments
- PayFlex: Up to 3 interest-free instalments
- HappyPay: 2 interest-free instalments
Pricing breakdown
- Nightly rate × number of nights
- 30% service fee on the subtotal
- Estimated Total displayed before payment
Failed payments
- Common causes: insufficient funds, bank limits, expired card, or 3D Secure verification failure
- Retry with corrected details or switch to a different payment method
- Contact your bank if the issue persists
Security
- All card payments are processed securely via Paystack
- Hosts never receive your card details
- Fraud controls and card verification are applied on every transaction
Refunds
- Processed back to your original payment method
- Can take up to 30 working days depending on your bank or provider
- Refund eligibility follows the cancellation policy
